and ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ communicates location or sphere (“in Christ Jesus”). Χρηστότης, -ητος, ἡ, “goodness,” “kindness,” “generosity” (BDAG 1090b–c). This term occurs ten times and only in Paul (Rom 2:4; 3:12; 11:22 [three times]; 2 Cor 6:6; Gal 5:22; Col 3:12; Titus 3:4). τῇ γὰρ χάριτί ἐστε σεσῳσμένοι διὰ πίστεως Γάρ introduces the explanation of Paul’s statement about the nature of God’s gracious salvation in 2:7.
